Potluck originally started out as just another Rock Band doing AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Bryan Adams, Lynard Skynard, Primal Scream etc. As time went on and the popularity of the Band increased, demands of the types of gigs the Band was being asked to do changed and a new style of song was added to the repertoire - Soul.
Newer numbers such as 'Play that Funky Music',' Everybody Needs Somebody' and Midnight Hour' were brought in to cater for those functions where people could dance all night if they chose to, instead of just watching and enjoying the performance.
Typical songs in the Set would be Classic songs from several different generations. Namely:-Let Me Entertain You, Place Your Hands, A Town Called Malice, I Feel Good, To Love Somebody, Come up and See Me and their all time most requested song.....the mighty Pinball Wizard!
One of the reasons that Potluck have become so successful is due to the diversity of the musicians in the Band. Kevin is the Typical British Rock Guitarist, whilst Steve makes the perfect foil with his Textured style of playing. Between them they manage to compliment each other's playing styles and recreate many songs in an exciting way that the usual 'Two Guitar Rock Band' just doesn't quite manage. Between them, nothing is beyond their abilities.
Andy is an unusual drummer, in as much as his very laid back approach to life would give the wrong impression to anybody who didn't know him. For those who do, they know that he is the heartbeat that keeps things driving on stage. His very quiet unassuming nature though does sometimes cause him some difficulties. He is currently the only member of the Band who has been made to pay to get in to a gig where he was performing!
Pete is the final piece in the jigsaw. Once seen live, he's never forgotten. His natural enthusiasm and ability to make every single person in the audience feel that they're at one with him, is the magic ingredient which makes a Potluck show so memorable to hose who have experienced it, as indeed I have had the privilege of doing.
